Is Kuaishou leveraging Kwai's strength to regain momentum?

Domestic AI video generation technology imitating Sora still needs time

Kuaishou's text-to-video application "Keling" has attracted widespread attention. As the first available text-to-video product-level application in China, Keling's performance is on par with OpenAI's Sora.

Keling's advantages include:

  • Excellent performance in terms of significant reasonable motion, simulation of real physical properties, and concept combination
  • Good character consistency
  • Support for multiple functions such as text-to-image, text-to-video, and image-to-video
  • High stability of generated results

However, there are also some limitations:

  • Insufficient accuracy in artistic style and photographic language
  • Room for improvement in accurately expressing complex scenes and concepts
  • Difficulty for professional creators to achieve high-level story and commercial film creation

Kuaishou promotes Keling through the following methods:

  • Inviting AI bloggers for internal testing
  • Providing traffic support for high-quality AI works
  • Organizing creator incentive activities
  • Launching AI original short dramas

Currently, over 700,000 users have applied for internal testing. Kuaishou hopes to achieve a positive cycle of user growth by building a pool of high-quality AI creators.

The emergence of Keling was unexpected, as Kuaishou had previously shown little activity in the field of AI large models. In fact, Kuaishou launched a new AI strategy in early 2023, making organizational structure adjustments and talent recruitment.

Other tech giants such as ByteDance, Tencent, and Baidu are also actively laying out plans in the text-to-video field. Competition in this track will become increasingly fierce. Whether Kuaishou can maintain its leading position remains to be seen.
