Humanoid Robot Technology Breakthrough: New Generation Products Coming Soon

Figure has launched a new humanoid robot, Figure 02, directly challenging Tesla's Optimus.

After completing its "training" at BMW's factory, Figure has launched a new generation of humanoid robot product, Figure 02. Compared to its predecessor, Figure 02 has significant hardware improvements:

  • Enhanced joint and actuator performance, increased degrees of freedom, such as 180-degree rotation for legs and torso
  • Arm joint actuators with 50NM torque and 148-degree range of motion
  • Leg joint actuators with 150NM torque and 135-195 degree range of motion
  • New composite materials used, with honeycomb-like compressible tissue added at joints for cushioning, weight reduction, and heat dissipation
  • Integrated tactile sensors in hands, greatly improving tactile perception
  • Finger design closer to human hands, with higher flexibility

The change in Figure 02's appearance may indicate that the company is starting to create a more human-friendly image for the consumer market to expand into the C-end market. However, Figure's current strategy still focuses mainly on B2B, targeting industrial manufacturing, logistics warehouses, and other sectors.

Figure has completed the leap from concept to prototype to commercial application in just a year and a half, achieving a closed loop of system development, data collection, model construction, and commercialization. The company has received $675 million in funding from investors including Amazon, NVIDIA, OpenAI, and Microsoft, with a valuation of $2.6 billion.

Founder Brett Adcock has been dubbed by media as "the next Musk," with 20 years of entrepreneurial experience. His previous venture, the online talent marketplace Vettery, was acquired for $110 million. Figure's rapid development and fundraising ability are closely related to the founder's background and capabilities.
