What can Arc A760 bring to the cockpit?
The newly released standalone graphics card for vehicles is called Intel Arc A760. It has 28 Xe cores, 28 ray tracing units, and 448 AI-oriented XMX/vector engines, with 16 GB of memory. It supports running 8 independent 4K displays simultaneously, with TFLOPS nearly 4 times higher than integrated graphics.
Most crucially, Arc A760 can provide up to 229 TOPS of AI computing power, nearly 7 times higher than Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295. It enables local running of large language models, supports AAA gaming experiences, and enables the creation of AI-generated content and next-generation visual experiences.
Intel released Arc A760 with three considerations:
- As a latecomer to the smart cockpit market, it needs to build product differentiation.
- Generative AI is seeking landing opportunities in smart cockpits, with increasing demands for AI computing power.
- Provide diverse product solutions for different levels of automotive markets.
Arc A760's most unique feature is supporting local running of large language models, bringing five major advantages: network independence, instant response, low cost, privacy protection, and high personalization. It can support running models with over 14 billion parameters in the vehicle.
Arc A760 is expected to enter mass production in 2025, providing automakers with an open, flexible, and scalable platform solution.
Intel's automotive "circle of friends"
Intel has also invited a group of Chinese local partners to build its "circle of friends" in the automotive market.
For adaptation and development, Intel chose Thundersoft. Based on their respective strengths, they jointly create next-generation smart cockpit solutions. Thundersoft demonstrated the Droplet OS smart cockpit, supporting 3D rendering of 7 high-definition screens, 6-camera interaction, AAA games, and AI PC applications. Tests show that Arc A760 can smoothly run large language models with over 13B parameters.
In the large model field, Intel brought in partners like Zhipu AI. Zhipu AI's COO Zhang Fan stated that AI large models will bring new productivity to cockpits, and AI Native cockpits are imminent. Zhipu AI Native smart cockpit provides complex vehicle control, Q&A, casual chat, life services, and other functions, with future innovations like car-hand connectivity and cockpit integration.
Additionally, Baichuan Intelligence, SenseTime Jueying, and others also demonstrated smart cockpit large model application scenarios based on Intel's platform.
Intel also invited Chery Automobile's subsidiary Xiongshen Intelligent Technology to participate in the launch event. The CEO of Xiongshen Intelligent Technology stated that they will conduct in-depth cooperation with Intel in areas such as smart cockpits and intelligent driving.
